Long overdue!

I am sorry that this post is long overdue. I  just got the Blogger app on my phone so I am hoping to do better. 

Things at the Lupov house have been busy. Avery is growing fast and getting so much personality- she crawled for the first time tonight. Prior to tonight she prefer to move around on her butt. She is a happy baby that loves the outdoors and is starting to prefer mom,dad, and grandparents. She has given up nursing (before I was ready) and loves eating about any food you give her.

Book Nook

I have not written anything on here for a long time so I thought I would update you with a lot of new pictures. We have been busy keeping up with Avery. She is getting more personality by the day. She still loves to sleep and eat. She loves our homemade baby food which has been a lot of fun. We are having a good time trying new flavors. I think her favorite food is hummus - you can put hummus on about anything and she will eat it. She continues to go to swim lessons on Saturday morning and is getting more comfortable in the water - she loves to splash. She is starting to find her voice - which tends to come out in loud yells or babbling. She has not taken to crawling yet but can move herself where she wants to on her butt. She loves to stand up - mostly by the window so she can look outside. 

The big project over the last few weeks has been making her a book nook. I have become a follower of Pinterest (dangerous) and found some ideas for a book nook. Avery loves to sit and read books - it is amazing how much she focuses on the pages and will sit still for 20-30 minutes while we read. My dad and I made some book selves out of pallets that we are going to mount on the wall and we have made a cozy corner in the living room for Avery. It is so comfortable that Ivan and I often find ourselves napping or reading in the corner as well - I hope Avery doesn't mind sharing with her parents. I have included a picture here but it is not complete yet, I will try and post a picture after we finish it.

Can't believe she is 9 months old!

 It is hard to believe my little girl is already 9 months old. We have been busy at the Lupov household. Avery is changing every day and requires more of our attention/entertainment. She is a great, happy baby. She still loves to sleep and has become a big fan of eating food. She is rolling in all directions but is yet to discover crawling. She loves to sit on the floor and play with her toys. We have taken her out in the jogging strolled several times and she loves the outdoors - we are ready for warmer weather. She is starting to find her voice and likes to just talk to herself. She loves her daycare - always ready to give the ladies a big hug when we arrive in the morning. She is becoming a little lady and we just keep falling more in love with her. Ivan and I have both been surprised how much we enjoy being parents.

Daddy's Girl

Avery definitely loves her Daddy. I think as she is able to interact and play Ivan just has more and more fun with her. Ivan has been feeding her in the mornings several days a week and drops off and picks up from daycare. He also puts her bed on Tuesday night because I have to work late. Tuesday night is Avery and Daddy night. Avery and Daddy are very good at sending me pictures to keep me updated on their play time. I thought I would share a few shots that I have enjoyed over the past several weeks. 

Weekend With Cousins

Last weekend Brandon and family came down to visit. Brandon and Kim got concert tickets for Ivan and I for Christmas. The plan was to let the grandparents babysit the kids and the parents go out for the evening. Well the grandparents decided to take a two week vacation to Texas over the weekend of the concert. But it all worked out - we found a great baby sitter for the kids and we all crashed at at Mom and Dad's house. It was fun to get out for the evening and both Ivan and I really enjoyed the concert - we saw Josh Ritter. We have been listening to his music at home all week. 

I think Avery had the most fun hanging out with her cousins. Oliver fed her breakfast one morning and Eve was great at supplying her with toys. Overall, a great weekend with the family. 

Exploring the World of Food

When we started giving Avery food she was not very interested in vegetables. You could give her a bite of fruit and her mouth would open wide then a bite of pretty much any vegetable and her mouth would stay closed like a little vault. We thought it might be the home made baby food texture so we attempted with store bought baby food but it was about the same maybe worse. So this momma went on a mission to try and find creative baby food options. This week we made Blueberry, Apple, and Spinach puree - it was a huge hit. Below is a picture of her eating an avocado and pear popsicle. I also made some baby turkey meatballs which were a huge success. Yesterday we made Lentil soup for dinner and she loved it. So overall dinner time has gone from being a fight to having a lot of fun. It seems like she gets excited about just about anything we give her. Last night she got so excited about her prunes that she was dancing in her high chair.

Sick Weekend

I am not sure what happened but last Saturday I woke up with a fever of 102. I went to Urgent Care just to make sure I didn't have Strep - luckily I did not. Ivan has his big tests this week so Avery and I headed out to mom and dad's house for the weekend. I am not sure what we would have done without them as they cared for both of us over the weekend. Avery definitely had a good time and I was able to rest and Ivan was able to study. I am not sure what is going on with me, I think I have "new mom" syndrome which consists of have a cold for about 4 months straight (daycare attendance time for Avery). I am feeling much better and hoping that my immune system is strong enough to survive the germ pool of daycare.
